Lake Chapala is one of Mexico's most popular destinations for retirees and tourists, because of its near perfect climate, beautiful lakeside views, and proximity to Guadalajara and Puerto Vallarta.   Located in the Mexican Highlands at about a mile elevation (5,000 feet) gives Lake Chapala / Ajijic (Ah Hee Heek) temperatures between 70 and 80 degrees Fahrenheit during the day.

Most residents of Lake Chapala / Ajijic are Mexicans, both locals and those who have second homes there. The majority of expats are Canadians and Americans, although there is a growing number of foreigners from European and South American countries as well.
